Chubbiness
Well, the election diet didn't really work, and I've been neglecting really to eat properly. [I'm also behind on wedding planning, and constantly playing catch up at work. What am I doing with my time?] The GI diet habits have only really stuck where breakfast is concerned and the weekend's post-migraine face-stuffing has left me topping the scales this morning at the highest weight so far this year. Bugger.

So. This morning I entered the vital statistics into WLR and set Yet Another Starting Point.
Weight Bust Waist Hips
82.8kg 110cm 87cm 110cm

I have a wedding dress that looked just great when I was weighing 78kg, and I am going to fit into it in just under eight weeks time. (Yes, I know, I have become a cliche.)

If I can lose 750g per week for the next 8 weeks I should be around 77kg by the wedding day and all will be well. So it's full-on calorie-counting and as strictly low-GI food as I can manage (if only because keeping my blood sugar steady while I undereat is probably the only way to survive this without migraining everywhere). As I've been reminded recently of the existence of my Playstation and the only two games I own for it, there might have to be a fair bit of dance mat action over the next few weeks as well.

Good luck. Losing wieght on that schedule is not going to be much fun, even without the migraine complications.

Something I've found is that Nairn organic oat cakes have a low GL (4 per two biscuits) - I've been using them at work for a nice snack if I feel that I need them. Nairn also have a page up about the GI diet, along with stuff about GL and how it relates to their products.

You may also find that the Eye Toy for the PS2 is also a good way to exercise.

Dance Mat rocks. Not only is it reasonable exercise but it is fun!

Good luck!

I know you're probably too hideously busy (and too migrainey) to contemplate this, but if you'd like someone to do exercise type things with on a semiregular basis, I'm trying to do more walking and jogging, and it would be nice to have people to join me.

Good luck. I know you'll look lovely, whatever.

Why don't you buy one of those athletics/olympics games? They involve vigorous button-bashing during sprints and things, equivalent to sprinting on the spot! Plus for the technical events there would be specific dance moves to time perfectly and thus require many goes! And what could go wrong with learning dance moves based on a control pad?

As for buying such a game, a search on Amazon for a PS1 game would probably do quite cheaply. Sports games sell for less after a while because there are too many of them and people renew their collection every year/olympics.

Have you actually suceeded in doing this? Last time I tried it with a
motorcycle game my feet couldn't move fast enough to race it properly.
I agree its fun with some games though.

Thinking a bit more, perhaps it will be very difficult. For athletics games (as I recall from seeing them) it's all about well timed repetitive bashing or perfectly timed button sequences. However recalling my goes on Goldeneye at the weekend I can say for certain that a fairly action-filled FPS will involve large amounts of jumping around and panic in any firing situation (though not really the walking around), especially if you're not very good. In fact two people in a deathmatch on two dance pads could be hilarious - new party game! Even if you've only 1 dance pad then a deathmatch with handicap on the person with a controller could still be exercise, they'd be like a personal trainer, and could teach you firing while circular strafing! Make sure the FPS has fiddly controls though, wouldn't want it to be easy.

And er, no, I've never used a dance pad.

Sleeping off migraines?
