DWCon logistics
So, I had a cunning idea earlier this week about how to meet my deadlines without having to leave DWCon early. Thanks to our lovely networks people, and the generous offer of an occasional laptop loan from [info]bofhcam, I should be able to do my work from the hotel, assuming the hotel internet works. Hurrah, I think, I don't have to go at Sunday lunchtime, and I get quite bouncy about it.

And then it turns out that Tony needs to be in the office on Monday 21st anyway to cover for his colleague. Bah.

However, the laptop plan means we don't have to leave until Sunday evening, because I will have done the work for Monday morning well before then, probably Friday evening. So we get about another 6-8 hours of DWCon, depending on how late I feel like driving us home. It might be quite late indeed because I won't have to rush into work in the morning.

I am feeling mild guilt over driving rather than using a perfectly reasonable train service, but it is the better option for flexibility in leaving, and Tony not having to carry everything on and off the trains. Thanks to a special offer code I got for being a regular Enterprise customer, it should cost us slightly less to hire and fuel a car than to go by train and get taxis. I increasingly dislike taxis these days as the quality of driving is far too variable.
